Tom's presentation will focus on NorthWestern Energy's communications efforts during the ice storm of 2005.

Tom has been the Corporate Spokesman for NorthWestern Energy in South Dakota and Nebraska since 2005. Prior to NorthWestern Tom pulled "The Ovenden" as he worked at all 3 stations in Sioux Falls working as a sports anchor/reporter. He interned with KELO in 1996, then went to work for KDLT from 1997 to 1999, and most recently with KSFY from 1999 to 2004. He also spent a year in the non-profit world as the Eastern South Dakota District Director for Junior Achievement.

In the short year that he has been with NorthWestern Energy Tom has experienced the South Dakota Ice Storm, the Billings, Montana wildfires, natural gas prices skyrocketing in the wake of hurricane season, the shutdown of a 100 year old dam in Montana, a corporate buyout, 15 tornadoes, 22 cut gas lines, 13 car versus utility pole accidents, 4 offices changes, and the official burial of a squirrel that caused a major outage in Yankton.

Tom and his family recently moved to Lake Byron 15 minutes north of Huron. Stephanie stays at home with Maxim (4 years) and Brecken (4 mo.). The family, with the exception of Brecken, who does a lot of sleeping and crying, is very active; with a garage full of rock climbing equipment, mountain bikes, wakeboards, snowboards, snow skis, pheasant and duck hunting gear, golf clubs and hockey equipment.

Tom is the Eastern South Dakota Representative for the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), and is also active in United Way, Junior Achievement, South Dakota Youth Hockey, South Dakota Youth Soccer, Lake Byron Association, and the entire family is very active in their church.
